HIV/AIDS Compassion Ministry
One of the platforms that community developers will build in order to share the gospel of Christ, is that of ministering to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
An estimated 5.2 million people were living with HIV/AIDS in South Africa in 2008, more than in any other country.1 It is believed that in 2008, over 250,000 South Africans died of AIDS.2
National prevalence is around 11%, with some age groups being particularly affected. Almost one-in-three women aged 25-29, and over a quarter of men aged 30-34, are living with HIV.3
We must demonstrate the love of Christ by helping to care for those affected by HIV/AIDS. There are thousands of children in South Africa who are left destitute as a result of their parents dying due to this disease. Minstry to these children can take various forms.
In addition, we must share the gospel with those are dying of HIV/AIDS. We must care for them during their last days on earth.
